A foam check before panels go on or the loft is converted.
Part of the standard survey. · Mon–Fri 8am–6pm, Sat by arrangement
Solar installers and loft builders want to know what is under the roof covering before they start. We document the foam and the state of the roof so nobody meets a surprise halfway through a job. We can send the report straight to your installer.
Solar brackets, new roof windows and loft conversions all involve working through or against the roof structure. If foam has been sprayed over the battens and rafters, the contractor needs to know before quoting, because it affects fixings, access and the condition of the timber being drilled into. A short survey beforehand lets them price the job properly instead of revising it halfway through.
We photograph the foam where it meets the roof covering, note its type and thickness, and take moisture readings on exposed timber. The report also flags any sections that look damp, marked or hard to judge. You can send it directly to your installer or builder, who can then say whether the work can go ahead around the foam or whether part of it should be cleared first.
This check is carried out as a standard survey, from £195, with the written report within 24 hours. It is best booked before the building work is priced, as the findings can change the order of jobs. If clearing foam turns out to be sensible, we quote that separately in writing, and you are free to share the report with other firms.
